THE DEAL is inspired by several levels. The first ideas were collected by seeing the art of Scott Listfield, who uses an astronaut to take the audience into his world.

As he considered how he wanted to pursue art during that time, he realized that he wanted to give voice to that feeling of looking again at the USA from the feeling of being an outsider, which he still carried. The astronaut became the perfect observer: human (at least presumably) but genderless, the astronaut could represent any of us.

It`s been a great lesson, a great inspiration. That`s when I knew I had to find my language in art, my signature. From then on, the guys in the suites became my protagonists, my heroes.

The title THE DEAL was formally used by the German singer “Udo Lindenberg” in one of his paintings. And I just knew I wanted to portray such a deal as well. Again, the movie “North by Northwest” helped me to find the scene, but to make the scenery more complex, I put the planet, Mars, in the back.

It was a time before it went viral that Elon Musk wanted to go there. It was a time before those visions could have been easily translated with AI.

And that`s where I see the strength in contemporary art; To picture something visionary through the imagination of the artist.
