Taranis is often mentioned by characters of the Asterix series, which I grew up with.

Taranis is generally interpreted as “the god of thunder”. 

There is a relationship with the Germanic thunder god Donar/Thor. 

Again, I am just transferring that into the painting. 

The blue and red spots are arranged according to the shape of the main character.
