The topic of this work is religious belief. More specifically, it is about the extent to which a believer is at the mercy of the insecurities of the outside world.

In this painting in particular, a saint encounters a demon named "Digdin", the demon of the disordered. Digdin is merely a symbol for something like demonic powers, like sin, and the insecurities associated with them.
